Each year the State of New York offers a variety of funding resources through the annual Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) process. This process allows projects, from arts and tourism to business development and energy efficiency, to apply for grants and tax credits through a singular online application called the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA). This year, Round 9 of the REDC awards will distribute more than $750 million in state funding resources, including up to $225 million in Empire State Development Grant Fund and Excelsior Tax Credits for priority economic development projects.
Over the past eight years, Central New York has won more than $1 billion in state funding, with over $50m of that coming to Cayuga County, making our region the recipient of the most investment through the regional council and Upstate Revitalization Initiative. These awards are a testament to our region’s strategic investments and planning to advance projects that create jobs and drive greater opportunity for individuals across our community.
Applications for Round 9 funding are due July 26, 2019 at 4:00pm. There are a number of resources available regarding this round of funding, including two informational sessions with State Agency representatives that you can attend to ask questions (see below). Businesses looking to apply for ESD Grant Funds and/or Excelsior Tax Credits can contact CEDA for guidance on eligibility, guidelines, and expectations, as well as some assistance in ensuring their applications include the appropriate information.
In addition to this year’s REDC awards, there is also $175 million available through the Workforce Development Initiative. The REDC application deadline does not apply for this particular funding, but the CFA portal is still used to apply.
