Over the past two months, CEDA ran an advertising campaign to promote and support Cayuga County small retailers and restaurants during the holiday season and into the new year. Our goal was to reach local and regional audiences and present them with a selection of small Cayuga County businesses to support by shopping safe in-person and online.

We ran this campaign in partnership with the Cayuga County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, otherwise known as the Cayuga County Office of Tourism or by their web address “Tour Cayuga”, for this campaign.  The campaign consisted of digital, print, and radio ads delivered to local and regional audiences at no cost to businesses that opted-in to be featured.  Along with print ads and radio spots, which displayed and referenced contact info for each business, we also ran digital ads that linked to the Tour Cayuga website and directory of Cayuga County retailers and restaurants.

The campaign targeted local and regional audiences from Monroe to Onondaga counties along the I-90 corridor, reaching over 240,000 individuals.  It resulted in hundreds of clicks on display and social media advertisements.

“I appreciate the help you gave my business! This past year has been so hard and to receive free advertising was a huge help and a wonderful way to support Auburn’s network of small businesses. Thank you!”  -Diana O’Brien, Owner, Window Attire

This campaign was a success for our business community. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses create two-thirds of net new jobs and account for 44 percent of our country’s economic activity.  We continue to urge our community to shop local and shop safe to support those small Cayuga County businesses through these difficult times so that they can keep their doors open and continue to exist as valuable economic drivers.
